Digital Commons in the Chilean Constituent Process

An interview was conducted with Alejandra Zuleta Buschmann, former advisor to the Chilean Constitutional Convention, specializing in public policy and gender justice, to explore the role of digital commons in promoting digital rights and gender-equitable participation in the digital environment. The methodology employed was feminist, emphasizing the importance of ensuring and promoting digital rights, bridging the digital divide, and creating violence-free digital spaces.

During the interview, Zuleta Buschmann shared insights on the relevance of digital commons in the Chilean Constitution proposal and its impact on integrating digital aspects into the global constitutional sphere. Emphasis was placed on protecting digital rights, ensuring digital equality and non-discrimination, and guaranteeing equitable access to information and communication technologies.

Additionally, the importance of creating digital spaces free from violence and safeguarding individuals' privacy was underscored with proposals for preventing and penalizing cyberbullying and online discrimination. Regarding gender focus, the need to promote gender equality in decision-making, reduce digital gender gaps, and highlight women's work and achievements in the technology sector was emphasized.
